I just picked up the first volume of this series, titled The Amulet of Samarkand, from Audible.com and so far I've got to say it's very interesting. All three books are available on the NLS' BARD web site read by a woman named Erin Jones I believe. I tried to read those but as is often the case I couldn't get into it because of the narrator. Well Audible.com has them, read by a British actor named Simon Jones. Anybody who's ever listened to that BBC radio program of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy will be familiar with Simon Jones, since he voiced Arthur Dent. But he does an excellent job of narrating the Bartimaeus Trilogy and indeed with audiobooks in general from what I've heard. So I'm curious if anyone else has read or is reading this series. I'll have to wait till my audible credits renew before I buy the other two books but that's fine by me.
o, my goodness, these books are sooooooo amazingly good! I've read it with both Arron Jones and simon jones! But yeah, these books are definitely a great read, but seriously, the 3rd book is the best! Omg, :d I'm sooooo excited for you to finish the series because they'r really good! :d Wow, just wow, see, I love love love just absolutely love how the author portrays Bartimaeus. Just funny!
anyway, I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!
So far I've really enjoyed Amulet of Samarkand. And I think Simon Jones' narration is superb, particularly when he's in Bartimaeus mode. It's probably going to be a few months before I finish the series because I'd sort of like to get the second and third books at the same time and using only credits. But on second thought I may just buy one and use credits for the other. Haven't decided how I'll do it yet. But I do hope the potential film series gets the green light. I might even try auditioning for the voice of Bartimaeus LOL. I assume that would have to be a voice part since he's got no physical form of his own and can be anything or anyone he wants. I really love how Stroud portrays him though.
I adore that series. I have to say I love his portrayal of snarky Bartimaeus, too ... I don't know that anyone can fail to like Bartimaeus and still like the series.
Wow, I didn't know Simon Jones read them, though. I'd love to hear him read ... I've heard one of the Hitchhiker dramatizations and I loved that, too.
I read the Bartimaeus Trilogy in Braille, though. All three are also available on Bookshare.

Yes, Simon Jones has an excellent voice for narration. And he does the Bartimaeus trilogy very well. I'm now on the second volume, The Golem's Eye.
omggggggg
That trilogy is badass!!!!!
And they're on bookshare? Yayayayayayayay!
I just finished the trilogy a few weeks ago courtesy of Audible.com. And apparently Jonathan Stroud's hoping to have a fourth volume out later this year, which of course would mean it's no longer a Trilogy. I believe it's tentatively called Solomon's Ring or something along those lines.
Omgmgmgmgmgmgmg.
I waaaaaaaant.
So do I.
I like it so far. I'm going to read the second and third books soon.
That's where things really start to pick up. The way I look at it is that Amulet of Samarkand is sort of the prelude and things don't really get started until Golem's Eye.
